School’s out and you’re bored already, right? This happens to lots of students. The key to not letting it get you down is simple. Set goals and assign yourself projects, just like you would in school. Take note of some of the fun things you can accomplish before school begins:
Learn to cook – You could take a class or have Mom or Dad teach you. Make a meal for the entire family. It’s great fun and will give you some much deserved family-time.
Start a fitness plan – If exercise isn’t one of your things, make it so. Take up jogging or dance. Learn a new sport like tennis or golf. A physically active lifestyle is something to establish sooner rather than later.
Read – From the First Style Recommended Reading List:
The Daring Book for Girls (Buchanan and Peskowitz)
The Fab Girl’s Guide to Sticky Situations (Discovery Girls)
The Girl’s Book of Success (Dee and Douglas)
You can even start a book club with some of your friends.
Pick up a few bucks – You can baby-sit, care for the pet of a vacationing neighbor, make and sell your own jewelry (kits available at any hobby store), help someone with yard work...there are many ways to add a little cha-ching to your wallet.
Start a blog – get your parents’ permission first, though, and be careful that the site you choose is secure. You can blog about anything – your hobbies, music, movies, books…the possibilities are endless!
Don’t be a victim of those summer-time blues. Stay active and keep it fun!
